Yachats residents are invited to share ideas about how to improve their library.
Yachats community members will have several opportunities this fall to provide input about the future of the Yachats Public Library. The Yachats Public Library is sponsoring two community conversations at 3 pm and 7 pm on Thursday, September 24 at the City Hall Pavilion (441 Highway 101 N.) These sessions will be led by library consultant Penny Hummel, who has been hired by the City of Yachats to conduct a library needs assessment.
In addition, the library is also conducting a community survey in September and October. The survey is available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YachatsLibrarySurvey
or in paper format at the Yachats Public Library after Labor Day. Designed to clarify how the library’s facility should be improved as well as to evaluate the library’s current operations and governance, the needs assessment will draw from best practices for public libraries to provide a set of concrete recommendations. Library Commission Chair David Rivinus notes, “We invite community members to share their thoughts and ideas through the community engagement process. Our goal is to ensure that the Yachats Public Library continues to meet the educational and informational needs of our community for years to come.” The assessment process is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2020.
